So it turns out Java's Spring Framework was born out of a frustration with Enterprise Java Beans(EJB) in the Java EE framework. Recent Java EE updates have improved to match the simplicity of the Spring framework so understanding Spring should make it easier to learn Java EE 8 for example. For now I will stick with Java Spring.
